Mario Zandstra is President and CEO and is the Keeper of the Vision, Culture, Talent, Work with the Board of Directors.
Prior to joining Family Legacy, he served as the President & CEO at Pine Cove Christian Camp, the President at East-West Ministries, and the Executive Vice President at Transwestern Commercial Services. Mario has a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from the University of Southern California, 1979. He is a member of St Judes Oak Cliff Church.
Senior Vice President of Development
John Fosdick is the Senior Vice President of Development and is responsible for the stewardship of the development team overseeing operations donations, gifts-in-kind, strategic partnerships, meal packing events, grants and capital funds.
Prior to joining Family Legacy in 2019, he worked in the data management software field in oil and gas, population healthcare and asset optimization performance. John also served as VP of Development for the College of Biblical Studies in Houston for 10 years helping to build this accredited institution.
John’s wife Janet is a volunteer for Family Legacy’s Sunshine Team distributing clothes at the Tree of life each year. Their family of 5 children have had the privilege of attending Camp Life and two of their daughters have been a part of the Summer Staff. John and Janet attend Houston’s First Baptist Church and both graduated from The University of Texas.
Chief Medical Director
Brad Guffey is Chief Medical Director and is responsible for Family Legacy's health programs.
Prior to joining Family Legacy, he served on faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
Brad obtained a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Auburn University and his M.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His post-graduate work includes residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics and a combined fellowship in adult and pediatric infectious diseases.
His sending church is Church of the Highlands, and he and his family attend Lusaka Community Church in Zambia.
Vice President of Short Term Missions
Chris is responsible for overseeing all Family Legacy mission trips, including Camp Life, Graduation Trip, Celebration Trip, Donor Vision Trips, and third-party trips hosted by partner organizations.
Prior to joining Family Legacy, he was the Community Groups Director at Passion City Church and Southeast Regional Director for the High School Ministry of Cru.
Chris has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Texas Tech University. He and his family live in Atlanta, GA, and are actively involved at Passion City Church.
Vice President of Finance
Veronica “Ronnie” Kendall is VP Finance and is responsible for Accounting Manager with oversight of the accounting teams at FLMI, FLMZ and Lifeline Enterprises.
Prior to joining Family Legacy she served as Controller at ViaTech. Veronica has a BBA from the University of North Texas. She is a member of Countryside Bible Church and a member of the Finance Committee and Head of CPA.
VP Technology, Information Systems
Andrew Knight is VP Technology, Information Systems and is responsible for data management.
Prior to joining Family Legacy, he served as Director of International Aid at Buckner International. Andrew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Russian Studies from Baylor University and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University. He is a member of Community Life Church, Sunnyvale, Texas.
Vice President of Sponsor Relations and Excel Beyond
Michelle is responsible for leading the sponsorship and Excel Beyond teams in all aspects of sponsor relations including proactive and reactive communications, student academic progress and enrollment in new programs, and sponsor engagement with students.
Prior to Family Legacy, Michelle was a small business owner and an executive at Oracle Corporation responsible for Global Operations. Michelle has led diverse teams throughout her career including Product Development, Software Support, Quality Assurance and Consulting. Michelle grew up in New England and is a graduate of Trinity College in Vermont. She and her husband attend First Colleyville Church, and Michelle and her family are long-time Camp Life alumni beginning in 2011.
Integrated Programs Director
Danny Lightner is the Integrated Programs Director and is responsible program implementation and provides strategic leadership, guidance and technical support on strategy development, networking and partnership development with key government ministries, donors, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders in Zambia.
Prior to joining Family Legacy, he served as the Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship at The Mission Church in Des Moines, IA. Danny has a B.S. in Bible and Pastoral Ministry from Lancaster Bible College (Lancaster, PA) and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (South Hamilton, MA).
He is a missionary/member of The Mission Church in Des Moines, IA (The Lightner family's sending church), but since their home base is Florida when they return to the USA on Furlough, they regularly attend McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers.
Chief Operating Officer
David Newman is the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for oversight of the HR, Accounting, and Short Term Missions departments and is a member of the Development Team. In addition, he assists the CEO as a liaison to the Zambian leadership team.
Prior to joining Family Legacy he was the President of Newman Graphics, a division of ColorMark Printing located in Carrollton, Texas.
David has his Bachelors's degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
He is an elder at Park Cities Presbyterian Church and serves as Chairman of the Board at For the Nations Refugee Outreach.
Chikondi Phiri is Country Director and provides overall strategic and operational leadership of the ministry in Zambia while ensuring alignment with Family Legacy Vision, Mission, Core Values and strategy.
Prior to joining Family Legacy he served as Interim National Director for World Vision South Africa, Johannesburg.
Chikondi has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree in Leadership Development from Eastern University (PA, USA).
He is a member of Lusaka Baptist Church and Credit Committee Chairperson of VisionFund Zambia Microfinance Board.
Vice President of Human Resources
Classie Pierre is Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for developing and leading HR strategic initiatives. She oversees all workforce planning, talent and performance management, employee relations and compensation and benefits administration.
Prior to joining Family Legacy she served as Vice President of Human Resources at Christian Community Action.
Classie has a Bachelors's Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management.
She is a member of Duncanville First Baptist Church and is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
