Sponsorship FAQ

WHAT DOES A SPONSORSHIP PROVIDE?

A sponsorship through Family Legacy provides a full scholarship for a child to attend one of our private, Christian academies. At our schools, our qualified teaching staff and low teacher-to-student ratio provide an education that is above and beyond what these children would normally be able to receive. In addition, sponsored children receive daily, a hot lunch and regular Biblical instruction from our Bible teachers and social workers.

IS THERE A PREFERRED DONATION METHOD FOR SPONSORSHIP?

Monthly bank drafts are the best way to donate for your sponsorship since the processing fees for the ministry are a fraction of the cost of credit card fees. Plus, bank accounts change less frequently than credit cards, requiring less follow up—and that means our staff can focus more time on what we love doing most: caring for the children of Zambia.

CAN I WRITE TO MY SPONSORED CHILD?

Absolutely! To write a letter to your sponsored child, simply login to your Family Legacy account at https://give.familylegacy.com/login. From there, click on the “My Sponsored Children” link and then click the icon at the far right of your child’s name to send a message to your sponsored child. They love to receive letters from their sponsors!

CAN I SEND GIFTS TO MY SPONSORED CHILD?

While we appreciate the heart and intention behind sponsors wanting to give gifts to their sponsored children, we have found that there are various problems that arise with this. Since these children live in a very survivalist and competitive culture, a gift from their sponsor can often put a target on their back that results in theft or bullying. In can also create an atmosphere of comparison, jealousy, and perceived favoritism that detracts from the focus of our mission. Prayers, letters, love, and encouragement – and sponsorship – are the gifts your child most urgently needs.
