LifeNet Residential Skills Training & Transition Center at the Tree of Life Children’s Village will act in the model of a “Youth Hostel”, housing 96 orphans age 17-21.  One center will be for 48 female orphan teenagers and the other for 48 male orphan teenagers.  Each center will be constructed as a dormitory of twelve rooms housing four youth each and an additional room housing four full-time paid adult “Life Counselors”.  The role of these Life Counselors will be to disciple, teach and train the kids on the practical skills and spiritual underpinnings of an independent, productive and fulfilled life. While the LifeNet Girls Center and LifeNet Boys Center will each be well supervised by their respective same sex “Life Counselors”, they will also learn how to properly and appropriately relate to the opposite sex during joint functions, training activities, and skills classes.

The goal of the LifeNet Centers will be to assist in the transition of orphans from childhood with no parents to an adulthood of productive living. Accelerated basic education of reading, writing, and math, along with specialized vocational training in various income-generating skills such as tailoring, mechanics, carpentry, and computers will be taught.  Practical skills such as household management, buying groceries, and cooking will be taught, along with interpersonal skills and independent living.  Additionally, Biblical discipleship training and life modeling will take place to transform each young adult from the thinking of an “orphan child” into the knowledge and readiness to be a true leader.
