Holly i read this story and i cried so much. i felt like i had known her my whole life. Lahema despite everything showed us that prayer is power and that God answers our prayers even when it’s not exactly what we want. I would love to go zambia with my mom but my mom thinks i could get raped or something like that because of what you said that happened to Lahema. I was hoping for some words of advice im only 17 and i know maybe we need experience or something but i really would love to go down there with either camp life or family life. if you know about that situation over there please let me know. thank you.

It’s great to hear from you! I really appreciate all your encouragement. It is SUCH a privilege to serve the Lord in the manner that He has allowed me to, and I have truly seen the Lord make “all things work together for good” through Lahema’s life. Thank you for reading the blog and keeping up with what God is doing over in Zambia — I pray that the work He is allowing us to do continues to glorify Him in every way. Thanks, Fan! It’s such a joy to hear from you!! We are VERY much looking forward to the opening of the Tree of Life Children’s Village, and we will certainly miss y’all this summer! I hope Carl is continuing to recover well. I know the children will absolutely LOVE playing on the new playground that Carl put up last summer — God is so good!

Hi Holly,
Lahema’s story touched my heart so deeply last year when we visited the Tree of Life Village in Zambia. I could hardly stop crying as Greer told us Lahema’s story.

Her finished house looks wonderful! The trees and grass around it make the home look so inviting. It’s so exciting to know that the children who will be privileged to live in Lahema’s House will be loved and cherished–as every child in the world deserves to be.

We’ll be thinking about you all this summer during Camp LIFE.

Holly, I love your tender heart and full-out devotion.And, I’m touched by your commitment to use such an agonizing situation to bring life, hope, and healing to so many others. Can’t help but see that this is a gorgeous real life example of Romans 8:28 – God causing great good to be birthed out of ALL things (even the most horrific).

We remember the summer of 2006 well — our first summer at Camplife — the summer Lahema died a few days before we arrived. Her story touched us that summer and will continue to inspire our hearts and souls as long as we have breath ourselves.

Lahema’s House gives glory to the awesome mercy and love of our
Redeemer and Lord. His love shines brightly in Lahema’s House.
