Taught in our Legacy Academies by trained Zambian Chaplains and Field Workers, the Disciple ONE curriculum teaches key biblical truths that impact every area of a child’s life. Our curriculum focuses on developing the spiritual lives of children and addresses their social, physical, and emotional lives as well. Through this program, children learn about how much their Heavenly Father loves them.
Specifically, it is built upon 3 types of Bible lessons:
RELATIONSHIP – Helping orphans experience a relationship with Jesus
CHARACTER – Helping children develop Christian character
LIFE SKILLS – Providing orphans with life skills training
With these pillars as the foundation, Disciple ONE lessons are developed that build on these areas with special attention given to the circumstances in which these children live as orphans and vulnerable children in a third world culture.
Each week a lesson is taught on one of the 3 areas of focus. Leaders are trained to not only share a key Bible teaching on that lesson, but also to engage the children in discussion by considering what this story means to them or how God might want them to respond. Additionally, leaders help the students better practice lifestyle changes while at home or in their communities.
For at-risk children, learning about a growing relationship with Jesus, Christian character, and life skills is imperative. Children from healthy families learn these practices from parents. For orphan children, this may be their only opportunity to learn these vital truths.
