During our time of transition, we want to thank you all for your faithfulness and continued support and prayers for our ministry. God in all His sovereignty, continues to bless Family Legacy and the orphans and vulnerable children we serve, and today we are pleased to announce that He has provided us with a new servant leader. We are honored that Mario Zandstra has accepted the position of President and CEO of Family Legacy.
Let’s briefly touch on the CEO search process. First, a huge thank you goes out to Will Britt, who has served as our interim CEO since last fall. Will’s tireless effort and faithful devotion to this ministry over the past six months have been integral to the ministry’s continued success. At the end of 2017, we hired The Dingman Companies, an executive search firm, which led a very active and productive search for our new CEO. After reviewing the resumes and qualifications of over 100 candidates, we conducted extensive interviews with our top three candidates and their spouses. Mario was enthusiastically selected by our search committee and unanimously approved by our Board of Directors.
Most recently, Mario has served as President of East-West Ministries, a faith-based organization doing ministry and mission work in 47 spiritually dark areas throughout the world. Prior to East-West, Mario spent seventeen years as the President and CEO of Pine Cove Christian Camps in Texas, where he assembled a talented group of leaders who helped grow Pine Cove into becoming the second largest Christian camping ministry in the United States, second only to YoungLife. Under Mario, Pine Cove grew from three camps and 5,500 summer campers to nine camps and 33,000 summer campers. Most importantly, during his tenure at Pine Cove, over 30,000 children trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Prior to following God’s call into ministry, Mario was a successful real estate executive with Transwestern Property Company. God is bringing all of Mario’s experience, talent, and leadership skills together to advance His Kingdom through the continued restoration of the orphans of Zambia. The entire Board and staff are eager and excited to work closely with Mario in this mission.
Mario lives in Dallas with his wife Lynelle. Mario and Lynelle have seven grown children and four grandchildren. “I am humbled and honored to join the Family Legacy family in serving the vulnerable children of Zambia. Family Legacy has had an amazing impact on thousands of children and we look ahead with eager anticipation of what God has in store for the future,” Mario said. It is worthy to note that even before Family Legacy was in need of a new CEO, Mario was already signed up to attend Camp Life this summer with his youngest daughter.
Please join us in welcoming Mario to Family Legacy. If you are coming to Camp Life this summer, you can welcome Mario in person as he will be serving in Zambia all seven weeks.
