It’s back to school time!
Thanks to so many donations of clothing and supplies from our American ambassadors, it took our staff in Zambia two FULL loads on the big canter truck to transform The Legacy Center into a “back to school extravaganza”. It was an amazing sight to see as every one of our 280 Tree of Life children had the opportunity to go shopping for new uniforms, clothes, shoes, and school supplies.
Over the course of three days the children and mom’s from each house came to the “mountaintop” Legacy Center and were greeted with hugs from our American staff. They spent time with each child one-on-one to be sure they found a new uniform they love and that it fit “just right”.
It was a beautiful picture of how the Lord restores as the children brought their “old” worn out clothes and exchanged them for “new” ones. The smiles on their faces lit up the room. They were thrilled by the chance to choose their very own outfits from so many beautiful clothes.
For school, each child received a new pair of khaki pants, shorts or skirt, a white and green polo shirt, socks and brand new school shoes! School supplies included notebooks, construction paper, markers, pens, pencils and much more.
After the first week of classes, Teacher Sandra shared that the Faith Christian Academy teachers love seeing the children looking so “sharp” and eager to learn in their new uniforms.
10 year-old Eunice who lives in “House of Hope” could barely contain her joy as she walked along the rows and rows of tables lined with uniforms and clothes. As Kathryn walked with her she asked Eunice…” Why are you laughing?” Through her giggles and smile Eunice sweetly replied…”I’m just SO happy.” It doesn’t get much better than that.
We love seeing the children SO happy and most importantly, so does their Father in heaven. Through the work of many loving hearts and hands our Tree of Life children continue to be restored with love, joy and happiness every single day.
At Family Legacy we’re incredibly grateful for each person and family who partners with us in this labor of love for the Lord and His Kids in Zambia.
