Education and love are what these children need most in order to break the cycle of poverty and loss from AIDS. The children that attend Camp LIFE and who are sponsored through the Father’s Heart program have the distinct privilege to attend the Lifeway Christian Academy in the compound. It is the only piece of land in Mtendere that is large enough to house a school the size needed in this area. The LCA is currently in a building that has been renovated and Family Legacy is leasing the property. We recently have leased the property for 40 years and it is time to expand & build! Our goal is to raise $325,000 to allow Family Legacy to renovate the existing school and build on the available property additional school buildings for the children of Mtendere.

The Current State of Education
Community schools are often over-crowded with as many as 100 children piling into a small classroom with one teacher. Those teaching these students are likely to have less than a 7th grade education and may have even received that education through a community school as well. Classrooms are rarely equipped with crucial resources such as textbooks or even desks and children only attend two-hour sessions. Education for orphaned and vulnerable in Zambia is so often out of reach. Most are able to pay the small fees to attend a local community school but are hardly receiving a quality education that will prepare them for the future. Without a quality education, these children have no chance to break out of the cycle of poverty they have found themselves in. Family Legacy is committed to changing this reality for the children we serve.
The LCA’s are a blessing in the communities! They not only provide orphans with an education, but they teach them about Jesus Christ. Kids who had never heard the gospel before are going out into their communities and boldly proclaiming their faith and sharing with anyone who will listen. We witnessed this and we were amazed by their boldness and eagerness to share/ By donating you are not only building a school, you are giving children hope for a future both here on Earth and in Heaven. You are creating disciples who are changing the compounds of Lusaka on child, and one family at a time. Your donations change the lives of those kids and the lives of everyone they know.
Lifeway Christian Academies (“LCA”) were opened in response to the devastating state of education in Zambia. They are designed to provide Father’s Heart sponsored children with a private Christian education. Characterized by low student to teacher ratios and highly qualified teachers, these private schools give the orphans we serve a solid academic base. Christian education is crucial to breaking the cycle of economic poverty that has plagued the country of Zambia for decades and to building a new generation of men and women who lead with integrity. Now operating 17 Lifeway Christian Academies directly in the slums of Zambia, Family Legacy is providing quality, Christian education to sponsored children. These children who have been tossed into the gutter of society will now have the chance to breakout of the cycle of poverty with a life-changing education.
Mtendere Lifeway Christian Academy
“Serving at Camp LIFE 2012 forever changed our family’s life. Joyce, Ebba, Esther, Emelda, Mary, Dorcas, Magilli, Steven, Batwell, Weston, George have become a part of our everyday prayer life and regular conversation in our home. In their living conditions, their loss, and lack of food, schooling via sponsorship was their number one prayer request. Last year, we had 41 new family members sponsored by friends and family that live physically a world away, but in our hearts everyday. This year we returned and could not believe the impact education and love from the teachers in the Lifeway Christian Schools have had on our children. The children who sat on the back row last year, with downcast eyes, were now on the front row with a new found joy leading our 20 “new kids” in conversation and song. Many of our conversations were in English, and no longer needed an interpreter. We left Zambia this year realizing the importance of their education and the future it provides for them. However, Mtendere LCA is almost full and without building more classrooms, our children are at risk of not having the opportunity to attend a Lifeway Christian Academy. EducateONE is a family event where children can help children BUILD A SCHOOL and give them hope. Come join us!” -The Powers
“Our family had the privilege of serving at Camp LIFE 2013, and we will never be the same. We have been amazed by how deeply bonded we became to the orphans we worked with in just 5 short days. We left wanting to be sure they had hope for the future. The best way to give hope to these children is to provide them with an education. For this reason we have started EducateONE to raise funds to build a school in Mtendere, the community where our kids live.” -The Rogers
With much love and anticipation of God’s provision for Mtendere,
