In June of 2000, Greer Kendall traveled back to the country of his birth – Zambia, Africa – for the first time since he had left as a 6-year-old boy. It was a trip that changed everything. Returning again in July and again in September with his wife, Susan, the Lord began to open Greer’s eyes to the stark and shocking reality of the orphan crisis happening in this south central African country.
Due to the scourge of HIV/AIDS and the extreme poverty that breeds hopelessness and despair, Zambia had become home to the largest percentage of orphans in any country in the world. Over one million orphaned children in a land of only 12 million. About Zambia>
Zambia was a land in crisis, on the brink of destruction and the children were quickly becoming a lost and abandoned generation. Greer established Family Legacy in September of 2000. Since then we have been dedicated to one goal: transforming Zambia one child at a time.
