We would like to share about two recent events that provided the inspiration for us to undertake this project to raise funds to enhance the educational facilities of the Lifeway Christian Academy that serves the children in the Chainda Compound.
First, in July of this year, the Perego family experienced our first Camp Life in Lusaka, Zambia working with orphans and vulnerable children. It was an experience none of us will ever forget and has changed our hearts forever. As we were traveling back home from Zambia, we discussed the many possibilities we could do as a family to help the disadvantaged children of Zambia. One of the great needs we noticed was the lack of opportunity for a quality education. We are convinced that the best way to break the cycle of poverty and disease that exists in the nation is to educate the children.
Second, shortly after returning home, a lifelong friend of the family passed away, Mrs. Ollie Kelly. Mrs. Kelly was a positive influence throughout Kellie’s life by praying for her and encouraging her to follow her heart for missions. Mrs. Kelly had a missionary’s heart even though she never set a foot on a foreign mission field. Her concern and desire to help others was demonstrated throughout the 99 years of her life. She was a prayer warrior and a Godly example of what we should all be in our Christian journey. To honor her memory and heart for missions, we felt that assisting in the creation of an educational facility to teach others would be a fitting tribute.
The placement of a Lifeway Christian Academy in the Chainda Compound provides discipleship and educational opportunities for the children in that area. It has been estimated that $60,000 will be required to complete the improvements necessary to provide an atmosphere conducive to the delivery of a quality education. Our initial goal is to raise $40,000 toward the total funds required to complete the project. Your support would be greatly appreciated to help us to meet and exceed this goal.
