I wrote yesterday about what a huge success the Christmas parties were. Each kid got a nice goodie bag to take home with them and they had a lot of fun just playing with friends. Heather and Randy, who are living in Zambia right now, were there to capture the kid’s reaction to their Christmas gifts. Heather said that the biggest cheers were for the frozen chicken and oddly enough the cooking oil. Check out this video…
As you may know, Family Legacy hosted several Christmas Parties for the children in Zambia. All of the sponsored children who received a Christmas gift from their sponsor, had the opportunity to attend our First Ever Christmas Party. Over several days, around 700 kids were bused in from all over Lusaka to one of our Community Resource Centers for a fun-filled day of music, games, food, gifts, and just the chance to play as kids! The parties were so much fun and we are happy to finally tell you that the letters and pictures are currently being processed both in our offices in Zambia and here in the States. If you are a sponsor who paid for your child to attend then you will be getting a picture from your child. Thank you for being patient with us on this. We know that you are anxious to see a picture and read how your child is doing. To give you a glimpse of the children at the party, we would like to share with you a slideshow of pictures that Heather, our Father’s Heart Coordinator in Zambia, put together. Be looking for more videos and pictures of kids here on the blog. Thanks again for everyone who contributed to the Christmas Fund. These kids were absolutely blessed and are so thankful for all that you are doing for them!!

Austin Howard sent us an email a couple of days ago to let us know about an idea they had. His friend Sean Franks went to Camp LIFE last year weeks 5 and 6 and came back talking about the Tree of Life Children’s Village. Sean and Austin had a great idea to sell t-shirts at their school to help raise money for the orphans who will be living there. They were able to sell 500 shirts at Klein Collins High School and two other schools in their area joined with them. All combined they have raised about $5000 dollars to help build a place for orphans to live.
We want to thank Sean and Austin for their desire to make a difference in the lives of these children. Even though they are 10,000 miles away, they are still working for the good of the orphans of Zambia. Because of their help and many others we will able to open the first stages of the Tree of Life Children’s Village this summer. If you want to be there to see it open, then sign up for Camp LIFE 2009.
Sean and Austin will be presenting their idea as a potential project for all of the schools in the state of Texas sometime in March. If they are selected, then even more schools could get involved. Here is the video they showed at their school.
